General Information
What kind of Clinic is the Fayette Care Clinic?
The Fayette Care Clinic is a medical and dental Clinic, which will provide free medical and dental care for Fayette County Residents who are uninsured and do not have the means to secure medical services on a fee for service basis. Non-narcotic prescription drugs will be dispensed as needed to qualified patients of the Clinic.
Where is the Clinic located?
The Clinic is located on the corner of Hwy 54 and Sumner Road just outside Peachtree City toward Fayetteville. The address is 128 Sumner Road, Fayetteville, and the phone number is 770-487-4778.
Is the Clinic open at this time?
Yes our Clinic opened May 1, 2006.
What hours will the Clinic be open?
Who can come to the Clinic?
Any Fayette County residents without health or dental insurance whose annual income falls below 200% of the poverty level set by the federal government or approximately $18,000 for individuals and $37,700 for a family of four.
How will the Clinic verify peoples eligibility?
The staff from Right From the Start Medicaid will determine eligibility for services and will screen all new patients. The screening will also determine whether or not patients may qualify for any state/government funded insurance/benefits such as Medicaid or Peach Care. If so, they will be signed up for these services on the spot and then referred to the appropriate healthcare providers.
Can people come from other counties?
Patients must reside in Fayette County and must be able to provide proof of residency.
Will immigration status be considered for patients to qualify for services?
No. Qualification for services depends on county residency, annual income and whether or not the patient is uninsured.
Can people with insurance be served at the Clinic?
No. People with insurance will be referred to other service providers.
Will the Clinic provide transportation to or from the Clinic for patients who do not have transportation of their own?
Our goal is to get volunteers from churches or other organizations to help with transportation when absolutely necessary. The Clinic will not provide transportation.
What kinds of medical problems is the Clinic prepared to treat?
Patients will be seen for general medical issues issues that would be seen by a family practice physician. Volunteer physicians specializing in specific medical fields will be on call when needed.
Will the Clinic provide prescription medication?
Non-narcotic prescription medications will be provided at no cost. Patients will also apply for a program called Georgia Partnership for Caring which will enable patients to get certain free medications from participating pharmacies.
What is the Clinic policy regarding pregnancy issues?
We will not treat womens health issues such as pregnancy, birth control, abortion, etc. These cases will be referred to other Clinics or the Fayette County Health Department since they are already staffed to provide medical help for these issues.
Will the Clinic provide free prenatal care?
Eligibility for Right from the Start Medicaid will be determined for patients in need of prenatal care. If a patient does not qualify for prenatal care through Medicaid, the Clinic staff will then refer the patient to an appropriate Clinic for the necessary care.
Will the Clinic give out birth control information?
No. Patients will be referred to other providers such as the Fayette County Health Department.
Will the Clinic treat AIDS victims?
No. Patients will be referred to other clinics that are better qualified to treat AIDS sufferers
What will be done for patients with medical problems that the Clinic is unable to treat?
The Clinic plans to create a network of referrals for such cases. We hope to be able to refer patients to specialists that will treat our patients for free or at least at a reduced fee.
What qualifications will be required for physicians or other healthcare providers who whish to volunteer their services?
Credentialing procedures will be in place for all healthcare/dental providers. Healthcare professionals will be required to provide the Clinic with appropriate state licensing information.
Will the religious background of the people the Clinic serves be considered before treatment?
Religious preference will not be considered to qualify for Clinic services.
Will religious information be given out to Clinic patients?
No. Patients will not be asked about their religious preference nor be given any religious information.
Donations and Financial Matters
How much money is needed to open and operate the Clinic for the first year? The financial estimate for opening the Clinic and ongoing operating cost are estimated to be about $20,000 per year.
Will the proposed operating budget be made available to potential donors?
Yes, the operating budget will be made available upon request.
How can donations be made?
Presently the Clinic is able to take cash, or checks, mailed to the above address and major credit cards on-line using PayPal. Donation information can be found on our Donation page.
How will donations be used if the Clinic is operated by volunteers only?
Donations will be needed and used to pay rent, utilities, equipment, supplies, medications, and the salary of the Clinic administrator.
Is my contribution tax deductible?
Yes. We are a 501(3)C corporation. Receipts will be provided for all monetary and in-kind donations.
What documentation of my donation will I get?
A thank you letter and receipt of donation will be provided which will be suitable for IRS tax information.

What fund raising efforts are underway?
The Clinic Steering Committee and Board of Directors will initially sponsor small group get-togethers and other social events in order to provide information to potential donors and solicit donations and volunteers. The success of the Clinic will depend upon the generosity of many individuals, groups and businesses.
Will the Clinic use professional fundraisers?
Professional fundraisers will be hired as soon as possible to develop and oversee an effective fund raising plan. In the meantime, the Clinic is dependent on the generosity of members of the community who are willing to help this worthy cause.
What kind of marketing program does the Clinic have in place?
Volunteer marketing and public relations professionals have developed a marketing program which includes a PowerPoint presentation, and other marketing tools such as brochures, press releases and website development. Right now, word of mouth is the Clinics best marketing tool for soliciting both donations and volunteers!
Is there a brochure available to help make information available for potential volunteers and donors?
Yes. A brochure can be sent upon request by calling the number above or at www.fayettecareclinic.com.
How will information about the disposition of funds be made available?
The annual budget will be available at the end of the fiscal year and available to donors upon request.
Volunteer Information
Is there a way for me to help other than give money?
Many volunteers will be needed to assist with Clinic operations and maintenance. Volunteer services for everything from professional medical services to cleaning and maintaining the facility will be necessary to maintain Clinic operations.
What if I get hurt while volunteering at the Clinic?
The Clinic will carry general liability insurance. All healthcare professionals will be insured under their own personal malpractice insurance. All volunteers are expected to carry their own liability insurance as well.
Does the Clinic have legal counsel involved?
Yes, the Clinic has used the services of a local attorney regarding liability issues. Other attorneys who are willing to donate their services will be welcomed as volunteers.
Is there a list of physicians who will volunteer their services to the Clinic?
Dr. Ivy Smith is the Clinic Medical Director and will be the primary physician when the Clinic opens. We are currently working on a network of volunteering physicians for weekly Clinic operations, as well as specialty physicians who will be available as needed.
What kind of volunteers will the Clinic need?
Volunteers will be needed to staff the Clinic, organize volunteers, maintain the property, help with fund raising, and get the word out.
Does the Clinic need volunteers for maintenance and janitorial services?
Volunteers for these services are greatly needed.
